Select a specific area in your image by dragging the mouse across it using a selection tool. Adjust the selection using the adjustment handles located along the border of the selection. To add to your selection, hold down the Shift key while dragging your mouse to create a new selection area. To subtract from a selection, hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys and create a new selection area around the area you'd like to remove. You can also select everything but the currently selected area or invert your selection by drawing a selection and choosing Invert Selection from the Edit menu.
Once your selection is complete, use the Tool Settings Panel to modify your selection. Apply shadowing, smoothing, and opacity effects, or rotate and flip a selection to the desired angle.
Rectangle: Select an area on your image in the shape of a
square or rectangle.
Oval: Select an
area on your image in the shape of an oval or circle.
Polygon: Create
your own selection using straight line segments.
Lasso: Create a
unique freehand selection by dragging your mouse around the image like you
would use pen on paper.
Magic Wand: Select
close color matches in your image. From
the Tool Settings Panel, choose the closeness of the color match
and let FotoFinish make the selection for you.

useful if you'd like to cut out an area that may be difficult to select using
the Lasso Tool.
